Hannah gets psyched for her afternoon walk whilst Mommy tries to get the stroller out of the closet...
That is a pacifier on the right, not a hairclip or a festively-colored goiter, as you might have thought at first glance.
I have been remiss about taking pictures lately, mostly because we've been focusing on sleep training I guess. I am pleased to report that at last we have achieved success (I hope I'm not speaking too soon)! I did some research on what babies need and what you can expect at certain ages, to find that babies Hannah's age can sleep an 11 hour stretch and need 5-6 feedings during the day, plus two long and one short nap. Thankfully we've had her on a good bedtime routine so GETTING her to sleep was no problem, but getting her to STAY asleep was. So last Thursday we decided to let her cry when she woke up. For about 2 hours that night she cried intermittently, but didn't scream or anything. The next night she cried once for about 15 minutes. Ever since she has slept through like an angel from her last feeding (around 9ish pm) until I wake her up in the morning at 6:45 or 7. So that's been three nights in a row. And she's taking great naps too. My goal is to feed her last at 8:30 and then have her in bed at 9pm. The question is, what to do about all the nights we're away from home and her schedule gets thrown off? Hm.
Friday night we went to the Falk's for Biblestudy. Like the little girl who had a little curl, Hannah was not very well behaved. She spit up on Alaina's kitchen floor, jabbed her elbow in Daddy's cake, and then spent the latter half of Biblestudy screaming. But aren't her little shoes just so cute! They finally fit! And if they shoe fits, she must wear it!
Saturday afternoon we went for a lovely walk in the sunshine. Hannah wore a hat, plus I kept the sunshade over her the entire time so she wouldn't get any sun. I got a little pink on my shoulders though, and Josh, who was mowing the lawn while we walked, got a sunburn on his face, ouch! (I'm not sure why this text is underlined, it's not for emphasis!)
The above picture shows Hannah dancing for joyful anticipation of seeing the Yankees play the Twins.
Hannah didn't actually wear the little bonnet to church, because 'ere we made it out the door she had spit up all over the ribbons! Oh well. She was fairly well behaved at church this morning, except that when we were standing to sing, she spit up all over Pastor Faris' chair (they were sitting in front of us). Oops!

If it seems like I take pictures of Hannah every time I change her clothes, well, that's because I do! I want to record at least the cute stuff! I hope that our dear readers are not growing tired of series after series of Hannah-In-Dresses. Of course, if you are growing tired of it, that's too bad! Them's the beans, so bake 'em! :) I do wish our camera had an audio function so I could post audio clips of Hannah making motorboat noises or laughing or babbling her little baby words. But since I don't have that capability, I hope you enjoy the pics! The dress in this post was given to Hannah by her great grandmother (my dad's mom), and the tatting lace on it was made by Hannah's great GREAT grandmother! I think that's neat.
A few weeks ago we went to collect our free pictures at Olan Mills. Above is one of the results. The color is kind of funny looking, but I think that's because Olan Mills wants to discourage us from printing our own pictures from the website proofs! We wouldn't do that, but I didn't see any harm in using one on the blog!
Yesterday we got Hannah the marvel of modern engineering which is the BumboSeat. Manufactured in South Africa, BumboSeats are purported to be super great for kids muscle development and helps them sit up as soon as they have head control. Hannah seems to enjoy it, especially when I put it next to her play mat so she can reach her toys from a whole new vantage point. We're hoping that quality time in the Bumbo, added to what short bouts of tummy time we can force her to endure, will help hair to grow back on the bald spot she's developed from too much time on her back! At least she doesn't have a flat head, so she won't need one of those silly baby helmet deals! I tried to teach Hannah to say "bumbo." She likes to shout, "BUH BUH BUH" with great gusto, but has not yet produced "bumbo." That's ok, we're still working on ma-ma.
Having a heart-to-heart with her Jeremy Fisher doll (same one my aunt Fran gave me when I was a baby!) in her rocking chair.
Hannah didn't want to smile before church this morning, but I think that was because she was unhappy wearing her tights. I took the tights off and her mood brightened considerably! Hannah did very well in church today, although she fell asleep during the sermon so may not have internalized much teaching on covenant. Plenty of time for that later, I suppose!
This is the outfit Josh picked out for Hannah after she spit up all over herself. Then as I was taking this picture, she of course spit up all over herself again...
Josh dips Hannah during the after dinner Father-daughter dance. This picture commemorates Hannah's 5th outfit of the day (not counting bibs)!
Hannah loves her playmat, as you can see by her look of joy above, partially obscured by her "dogworm" toy. She really digs the dogworm. Dogworm has a worm body that vibrates and makes noise and is mulitcolored, a yellow dog head, plastic rings attached to him, and also a crinkly bug creature attached to one paw. Hours of entertainment! You can also see the blue monkey in the left of the picture. The monkey doesn't make any noise, but Hannah likes to bat him around too.
I got the above shoes for Hannah, figuring that she will walk someday and then I will want her to wear cute little tennis shoes like these. They were only $4 and I didn't know if I would be able to find such a good deal when she needed them. They are size one and seem about twice the size her foot is currently. Hopefully she won't outgrow them before she starts walking!
This is Hannah just chilling in her swing. Some have pointed out that Hannah is always wearing the same clothes in her pictures. That is because even though she turns three months old tomorrow, she still shows no signs of outgrowing her 0-3 month clothes. In fact, a lot of the 0-3 month clothes are still running a little big on her! Although I would like to put her in different clothes, I'm glad she's still small, because she's a very cute tiny poopcious. I love her tiny feet and hands, and her little bubble belly. :)
