Cute, Sweet, She Always Keeps Her Toybox Neat (not)

Here are two recent pictures of Hannah, just because. And the post title probably won't make sense if you aren't a Greystone girl, sorry!

Grandparents

We've been working on teaching Hannah to say her grandparents' names. The video below shows her saying "Gigi" which is my mom. She can also say "Papa" which is Josh's dad. This morning when I tried to get her to say, "Grammy" (Josh's mom), she said, "Yummy!" so we may have had a breakdown in communication there! So far, she can't say "Grandad" (my dad) but we're working on it!

Hannah Expands Her Interests

Hannah likes to bring me a book, then climb up on my lap for me to read it to her. We generally read every one of her board books at least once per day. We read her favorites like "Noah and the Ark," "Bubbles, Bubbles" (which she calls "Buh-boh, buh boh!"), and "Bunny and Me" at least three times each. Sometimes I hide "Bunny and Me" so I can get a break from it. Is that so wrong?

Today Hannah managed to dislodge one of the adult books from the shelves, in spite of our having packed them in super tight to prevent her accessing and ripping them. I looked up to see what book she was bringing me for reading time, and was surprised that she offered, "The Historical Atlas of Russia." She demanded that I read it to her, so I did. I picked a part at random, and we read three pages about the Russian conquest of the Caucasus region. I trust we were both edified and enlightened. Hannah then carried the book around and spent a fair portion of the afternoon perusing maps of Russia and the former Soviet republics, as you can see in the picture below.
These two pictures are just for fun because I can so rarely snap the picture while she's still smiling. Our camera takes forever to TAKE the picture once you press the button, gr. I know, her hair is a mess, but she's cute nonetheless, right?

Toddling Taste Maven: Soap for Snack

Today while I was fixing my hair, Hannah found her way into the soapdish. I turned around to see what was keeping her so quiet, only to discover Josh's bar of Lever 2000 in her right hand, and my bar of White Tea and Ginger soap in her left hand. Each bar showed tiny teeth marks and was missing a bite sized chunk.

Sure enough, Hannah had taken a bite of each soap. She seemed to prefer the White Tea and Ginger flavor to the Lever 2000, and who can blame her.

Ever since her impromptu snack, Hannah has been walking around making spitting sounds, evidently trying to get the taste out of her mouth. She has also guzzled a lot of water, and attempted to get the soap out of her mouth with her hands.

Perhaps a lesson was learned.

In any case, the Toddling Taste Maven seems to have bestowed a four star rating on my soap, but only two stars on Josh's soap. I guess that opinion might come in handy if you find yourself starving and stranded on a deserted island with only cases of soap to keep you company.

Our Little Gardener

Yesterday Hannah and I went to play outside in the backyard. I got distracted momentarily, and when I looked up a few seconds later, I found that Hannah had upended a flowerpot and smeared dirt all over herself. She was quite proud of the result. We thought she looked pretty scary, like she had black eyes and a unibrow. After a quick bath, we were pleased to find that she went back to her normal cute self. :)

Easter Pictures

What??? We haven't got time for tea?
Oh, I knew you'd change your mind...
Look, Fran sent me a Peter Rabbit Easter bucket!
And there's a book inside!
Daddy can read it to me
I can never get enough of Peter Rabbit!
I have to wait while Mama and Daddy get ready

Daddy drinks a lot of coffee. I stick with pretend tea myself, because this is not as tall as I want to get!

Mama has a pearl necklace too, and it's fun to play with.

Another Funny Doll Anecdote

I know you're probably sick of hearing about how cute Hannah is with her dolls, but I want to remember these things so you'll have to bear with me.

Yesterday Hannah carried her doll Emily to her toy corner in the loft. She carefully laid Emily down on the ground, and then covered Emily carefully with a pair of her (Hannah's) pajamas. Finally she laid a blanket over the doll and pajamas, smoothing it out and patting the doll a few times. Apparently satisfied that the doll was fast asleep, Hannah walked away and started playing with something else.

The Little Mama

As background, we put Hannah on her little toilet chair every time we change her diaper. She loves to sit there, and knows what to do. If she has to go, I clap and say "yay! What a big girl!" etc. She uses her toilet on average 3-4 times a day now. It does make diaper changes less messy for sure!

Anyway, Hannah likes to carry her doll around and tend to it. The other day I noticed she had put the doll on the little toilet chair and was sitting in front of the chair and doll clapping and saying "yay!" as if the doll was going to the bathroom! It was so funny!

Another time, Hannah propped the doll up against the wall and got out her toy pan and spatula. She proceeded to "feed" the doll with the spatula out of the little pan, saying "MMM!" each time she put the spatula to the doll's mouth!

I think she'll make a great mama some day!
